HVAC Training in Kentucky
Federal law requires techs to be EPA 608 Certified.
Kentucky HVAC Tech Certifications:
Kentucky requires the following Tech Certifications:
- Limited Journeyman HVAC Duct Mechanic
- Limited Journeyman HVAC Installer Mechanic
- Journeyman HVAC Mechanic
- Master HVAC Contractor
Steps to get a Journeyman license:
- Obtain an application from the testing organization ICC: http://www.iccsafe.org/Accreditation/Bulletins/CO_KY.pdf
- Application fee is $50.00. Journeymen must have two years or 3000 hours of experience. The test is open book, 50 to 60 questions and takes 3 hours.
- Obtain study materials and take an exam prep short course if possible. Steps to get a Master HVAC Contractor license:
- Obtain the application listed above
- Application fee is $250. Master must have 2 years experience. Two tests are required. The trade test is open book, 100 questions and 4 hours. The business and law test is 1 ½ hours 30 questions.
